Spring Sweaters

Simply Chic
Throw on a sweater and a scarf- instachic!

I'm not much of a pink girl, but I love this dusty rose color and of course I love coral-pink shades.  I Love, LOVE this color pink with earthy greens and tans, I think they compliment each other very well. Some days, well most days I just want to be comfy, but always chic and pulled together.  A nice spring sweater and a complimentary scarf is the way to go!

Tomorrow Never Knows

But listen to the colour of your dreams
In B&W: you never know, follow your dreams and live every moment.

I am rarely ever a B&W sort of person though. I tend to live in technicolor- or often the gray area; just usually never strictly nor simply B&W. The unconventional has just always been more fun.  Sometimes its better to not choose and simply to: just BE. Life is too short to live in the B&W, we need color, imagination and life.  It's okay to not have an answer or do it the unconventional way, as long as its your way. In life it is better to break out of the B&W mold and color in your own lines.

Stuck in the Suburban Jungle.

New York City is the most fabulous area in NY.
Long Island runs a far second,
and eastern Long Island a closer second and nothing else matters.
In the opinion of most, but not all.

Although, the eastern side of the island (being the north and south forks) are the more beautiful parts of long island, even safe to say the more chic.  Less commercial eyesores and more lovely main streets with shops and privately owned cafes and boutiques.
Despite its renowned reputation and all the fine restaurants, vineyards, beaches, pies, farm-stands, waterfront venues and large amounts of tourists- it is still suburbia.

Personally, I feel that a sense of style is something a person comes to terms with on their own- not because a fashion magazine said thats what is in this season.  That is what separates stylish people and trendy people.  Like anything- be in it for the cause, not the popularity.  I'm not always on the trend wagon, but have love for the current. I enjoy finding pieces I like and putting them together in an unconventional way and sometimes those pieces are on trend and sometimes they are not.

My Famous Tex-Mex Bacon Avocado Dirty Chicken

Bacon, Avocado, Cheese-
Some Spice and a little dirty?
Sounds like a party in your mouth.

Almost everyone has a signature dish- I don't know that I do.  I love it all and don't ever discriminate.  I love to cook, especially experimenting and making something up based upon an idea. This has become one of my top favorites. It is a Cajun rubbed Chicken topped with bacon, avocado, dirty corn and munster cheese.  I personally love it and think its delicious and the feeling is quite mutual.  I hope you love it as much as my housemates and I.

Let it be Wedge Season.

Summer Air in the Midst.
Time to let the toes be free!

You know you are a year round New Yorker when the first 55 degree day comes around and everyone thinks its a heat wave.  Now I enjoy all the seasons, but I'm always over-joyed with the weather change come mid-april.  Don't you ever feel like you whole being is rejoiced on the first beautiful day? It's invigorating.

The Silver Lining

Sparkles & Aqua
Together like Tiffany's and Diamonds.

Love, Love, Love this paint job- if I do say so myself. And I do. I painted my two accent nails with Essie, "Steel-ing the scene", then the other three nails with Essie, "Where's my Chauffeur?"- as well as using the Essie, "Set in stone" luxe effect series.

the Working Class Hero

Blue Jeans, Tee-Shirt & a Sweat Shirt.
Bummed out with style.

Unfortunately, I don't have a personal "team" around 24-7 to assure my fabulousness at every moment.  That's where a keen eye comes in.  We all need a break here and there.  When shopping I love finding comfy-casual items with a twist.  My favorites are sweat shirts or causal over-shirts that have lines like a blazer or is cut like a motorcycle jacket.  It's one of those items, that I feel I can never have enough of, want in every color and can use a million different ways.  They are great to pull together a causal outfit or even dress down a fancier one.

Sayin',

This is my message to you-ou-ou..

Don't worry 'bout a thing.

We  got a tease of summer air last week with some fantastic 80 degree weather, but it was just enough to get our hopes high.  Sandals one day and back to boots the next, welcome to spring in New York.
So, I find myself dreaming of this:

Porcelain Punk

Baby Doll Dress & a Touch of  Punk
Class with a touch of Funk.

I mean really, what girl doesn't look good in an A-line dress?  Exactly.  It looks great on almost every body type.  I feel the look of an A-line dress creates such beautiful feminine lines that it is the heart to so many great looks.  Christian Dior obviously knew exactly what he was doing when he founded the very first A-line in the mid-50s.  There are billions of ways to wear this dress, and the same goes for most little black dresses.

Casual Style on a Budget!
Believe it or not the majority of this outfit is from Target!
& you'll never guess where the boots are from.

As Coco Chanel said,

“I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”

I totally agree- in all honesty, I'm a little obsessive & I'll admit that even my lounge wear and pajamas will always match.  It's kind of a sickness.  But I feel you should always look pulled together, even if you are just running a few errands around town (as I was about to do in this look) you should still be representative of you, because you never know when you will be face to face with destiny.

Blazers & Blue Jeans

Classic and Polished
There is just something about well-fitted blue jeans & a bright blazer.

So first of all, I know everyone loves a good pair of J-Brand, Seven or Rock and Republic Jeans.  But let's be real, I can't afford to spend $150-$250 per pair! I love a good pair of denim as much as the next girl, as well as loving items of fine quality, but I know my limits!

Cajun Chicken ala Tortellini

Food that Warms the Soul
& your taste buds.

Now, I too like to buy organic vegetables  cut out "fake" foods, never drink soda, and try to stay away from horribly processed foods- in other words I try to be healthy within reason.
Although I am a sucker for cheese, anything involving cheese, stuffed with cheese or topped with cheese- actually I'll take one of each.
I feel in some cases if it's bad for your obliques or your behind, it's probably great for your soul!
It's okay, indulge. You deserve to enjoy it, beautiful!

Mama's Got a Brand New Bag!

A Late Birthday Present to Myself!
What girl doesn't deserve to spoil themselves every now and then.

I bought this little number last week and am in love!
A few months ago I discovered the brand Emma Fox and they have super cute bags that are great quality and are more affordable than your average real leather "Big Designer" bag.
